THE HISTORY OF THE ZO
The Zo are the most recent of the races to arrive in Shan Deral, emerging from the Sword of the World Mountains in the year 233 to wage a short and ill-fated war on the Ascendancy.  The original invading army, known in the Zo homeland as the Army of Liberation, was composed of eleven different detachments, each specializing in a different field of warfare and hailing from a different Zo nation.  In the battle between the Zo army and Mobius' army of Dark Sentinels, the Zo forces were routed, with only a portion of the detachment from Ghorak, composed entirely of warriors and soldiers, surviving.  The remaining Ghorak Zo retreated hastily back the way they came, barely beating the faster moving Dark Sentinels to the magical portal which brought them to Shan Deral, which they promptly destroyed.  With the destruction of the portal, the remaining Zo realized the hopelessness of their plight, and surrendered.  After swearing allegiance to Mobius and the Ascendancy, they were relocated to the fortress city of Mountain's Reach and given control over the adjacent Protectorates, to the dismay of The People and the Halflings.  The Zo have been called into action over this allegiance only once, in supressing the Uli Rebellion of the year 237, and otherwise have enjoyed relative autonomy with only nominal subservience to Mobius.
