Notes:

From Aribald:

Anyway, what I have decided, as far as geography, is that halfling civilization is centered around three very large rivers, whose names translate as Food, Home, and Garden. These rivers intersect such that there is a triangular island formed by them, with each river forming a side. This  sland is called Hearth, and is some of the richest real estate and best farmland in the lands of the halflings. A yearly feast celebrating the harvest is held on Hearth, and halflings living there are obliged to put up their visiting relatives.

Hearth experiences very heavy rains in the late winter/early spring time frame, overflowing the rivers Food, Home, and Garden. Only the hills of Hearth are visible during this season due to massive flooding, which explains why the halflings live in hills. The floods usually last around a week, leaving behind rich silt, giving Hearth some of the most prime farmland on the continent.
