THE KINGDOM OF LIRANTH

by Elenis Reyav

lenis Reyav came from the Western Continent, from the growing city of Velarien, just north of the forests to the east of Middenheim along the coast. The forest to the south was named Ravynne Wood, after the first settler to have taken up residency within the forest. The Penninsula North-east of Velarien, was Myrrhine Point, from which a Fen'neko warrior once fell. The coast along which Velarien is located is called Rafa Bay. The plains east of Ravynne Wood are called the Sariani plains and are inhabited by a small community of halflings which do business with Velarien. The lake near the western base of the Konthless Mtns was called the Pearling Lake, due to the large number of freshwater pearls once found in it's depths. The name of the Human kingdom which all of these areas are a part of is called the Liranthian Kingdom (or Kingdom of Liranth) and is based around the major city of Liranth based in the plains Southwest of Middenheim, between the hills. It is a major trade city, since it gets goods from the coast, through overland trade routes to Middenheim and to the Halfling shires. There are three small villages located on Kirama named Uvetho, Kiwan and Arnsmouth. Uvetho and Kiwan are in the North, while Arnsmouth is located at the point nearest to the peninsula to the south of Kirama. It 'guards' the Shale bay of Southport.

The Liranthian Kingdom's northern edge runs along the northern coast, but includes the Island of Kirama. The western edge runs north/south roughly along the meeting of the line of hills and the shire.

The relationship between the Liranthian Kingdom and the rest of the Ascendancy is that of a supply zone, or even a buffer zone. It is also the point of origin of the many trade ships between the Nord Isle and the mainland. The Kingdom to the west, the Brimoan Kingdom is the main kingdom supplied by the Kingdom of Liranth due to its larger military and troubles with the Fen'Neko and Ghorak Zo to their west. For the rest of the Ascendancy, the Liranthian Kingdom is considered one of trade/supply. It is the second largest of the three supply kingdoms of the Ascendancy and 6th largest kingdom overall.

There may have been much historical importance of the Liranthian Kingdom, but it is not very well recorded. During the Nordvar Dynasty, the capitol was located near the current city of Liranth. During the Rise of the Darshak Theocracy, just south of the border of the Liranthian Kingdom, the people were quite apathetic to their political affiliation and thus were quite easy prey to the Darshak invasion of the lands. The conquering of the Kingdom of Liranth took place over the course of 4 days. The battles were few, and very quick as the Liranthians really didn't have much care for battle, and were quick to surrender. After the defeat of the Darshak theocracy by the Ascendancy, the Kingdom took on its current name and the head city was rebuilt, just to the east of where it was during the Nordvar Dynasty. The ruins of the Nordvar capital still stand about 20 miles west of Liranth.
