5 - Battle of Aethry Crossing

Opening, Day 1

The battle opened in mid afternoon on the 8th day of Spring in the year 1.

Two light cavalry companies (4A and 4B) that had been detached from the 4th Legion in support of the 5th Legion crossed the Aethry River and scouted southwards.

4B company(6) took the east fork and 4A company took the west fork.

4B company had traveled about half a mile when they spotted two Darshak heavy cavalry units approaching on the road ahead.

4A company was too far west to notice the Darshaks on the road far behind them. 4A company continued down the road towards the trees.

There was no chance of success for 4B light cavalry company against one heavy cavalry unit, much less two. All they had to their advantage was speed.

4B company turned back north and blew their signal horns. Once they were certain they had been spotted by the Darshaks, 4B moved at full gallop back up the road towards the bridge with the Darshak in full pursuit.
