THE HOUSE OF MOBU
BY MATH The legends of my people speak of a race of Dwarves that is completely evil. Not just bitter, angry, sun-shy Dwarves, these Dark Dwarves or "Undwarves?" (I seem to recall that term somewhere) are as hopelessly corrupt as Orga or the Dal'noth. One name that race called is "the Mobu". All agree that they are the followers of Mobu, the corrupt image of Mordax the Forger. Now, are they just descended from a group of Dwarves that Mobu was able to "taint", or is Mobu himself one of the Eleven, and the Dark Dwarves his children? We already know that the Eleven are immortal and almost godlike, the greatest creations of the Forger. Is it possible that Mobu, the Forger's mightiest creation, was in origin one of the Eleven himself, turned to evil, his sons evil in his image? Is Mobu indeed the eldest of the Eleven, rather than Zorax, or is Mobu the youngest? Certainly, none of the Mobu have I seen in Lok' Groton, nor would I allow any in the Militia, let alone allow them to walk in Puddleby! They are pure evil!
BY GRUMBLE In my writings on Ghrim I refer to a period of time in which Ghrim felt a calling and had to leave. I have been researching this for a while now and have found some interesting information. Some time between 3500-5000 years ago, quite recently surprisingly, there was a great conflict among the Eleven. Apparently one of the Brothers had become extremely jealous of Mordax, the Forger. As I am sure you can guess this was Mobu. In an attempt to show that The Forger was no greater than he, Mobu decided to create his own founders. He failed, of course. But what seems to have happened was, due to the fact the creatures he created were made when he had hatred, jealousy, and spite in his heart these creatures reflected that. Yes Math, I refer to the "Undwarves", I found that title in an old diary of a priest of Ghrim. These Undwarves, apparently look much like us dwarves. It refers to subtle differences in actions and looks that betray these creatures. The most commonly referred difference is in their eyes. "Though they have eyes of color they bear a cold, hard appearance. Much like shatter stone, found deep in the mountains." (For those who are unfamiliar with shatter stone, it is a stone that appears very hard yet mines easier than other stone. Once a tunnel is cut in this stone it will soon collapse and kill any inside.) Therefore, the eyes of the Undwarves must bring a shiver to anyone's spine. Mobu was sending his Undwarves to attempt to infiltrate the dwellings of the other Founders. This did not go well for Mobu, but his Undwarves seemed plentiful and hard to track. So seven (that number may not be accurate) of the Founders teamed together to confront Mobu. They did this knowing that the Undwarves would return to fight alongside their creator. A battle ensued. The seven fought Mobu just hard enough to keep him in check until the Undwarves came to his aid. Once the Undwarves were in Mobu's mansion the seven retreated and sealed the mountain. Unfortunately some of the Undwarves remained outside. There have been references to the sighting of these creatures. We can only figure that these Undwarves still exist, and work to free their creator and their kind.
