Death went away, and Resetus now stands in his place. Visiting Resetus resets you completely: it clears your race, sex, profession, hair color, experience, coins, karma, items, and trainer and puts you back at the beginning of the "newbie walk". The only thing you keep is your name.
So, if you want to start your character fresh but keep the same name, visit Resetus. If you want to "kill" your character and start a new one with a different name, use the Character Manager in the File menu to delete your old character (careful -- it's gone forever!) and then create a new one. If you delete a character in the Character Manager, you can't reuse the same name for a while.
